NEW YORK, NY (June 9, 2005) The Best of Barbados, the Caribbean regions most successful national program in recent years, is returning again this fall, providing travelers with both significant and tangible added value.  The program offers United States travelers visiting the island great savings on flights, accommodations, dining, and car rental. * 

Barbados is one of the most diverse and captivating destinations in the Caribbean, a mix of modern grandeur and traditional gentility.  The Best of Barbados program provides high value for money in celebrating all the island has to offer.

The most significant features of this seven nights or longer program are a $250 per person airfare credit toward a paid fare of $250 or higher and complimentary breakfast every day for up to two guests per room.  These, combined with a complimentary nights stay when seven nights or longer are booked, translates into a substantial savings of over $900 per couple. Additionally, The Best of Barbados savings are being offered on popular island activities including discounts on submarine rides, golf excursions, dining and island tours.  Visitors will also receive a Best of Barbados shopping card offering 15% discounts in participating shops when making purchases of $25 or more. 

The Best of Barbados program has proven to be the most successful travel promotion in the Caribbean since its launch in July, 2002, states Bill Silvermintz, Vice President of Marketing for the Americas at the Barbados Tourism Authority.  It has become so because it addresses the real, not simply perceived, needs of the long stay visitor the triple As as I call them; Airfare (the need to fly to the Caribbean), Accommodations (the need for a home away from home) and Appetite (the need to eat).  We are pleased to bring back this program for 2005, and are confident it will both continue the strong U.S. growth Barbados has shown over the past three years as well as help us to maintain the high visibility we have achieved for Barbados here in the U.S.                         

Available during the travel periods of August 20 December 20, 2005, inclusive The Best of Barbados program provides the following components: 

NEW DETAILS FOR 2005 

         The first night free when staying seven nights or longer at participating properties; an average savings of approximately $150 per couple at all non-inclusive properties and $300 - $500 at all-inclusive resorts.

         Complimentary full breakfast served daily for one or two guests at participating hotels (or a second complimentary nights stay in lieu of breakfasts).  This breakfast savings amounts to an average of $20 daily per person or $280 per couple for the week.

         A $250 airfare credit per person (maximum two persons per room), a savings of $500 per couple.

         One free days car rental through Drive-A-Matic Car Rental or Stoutes Car Rental, with a minimum three-day paid rental.

         Purchase one activity ticket and get a 50% savings off a second ticket for the same activity. Activities include a submarine ride, rounds of golf, and a Mount Gay Rum tour.

 The Best of Barbados is based on a maximum of 2 persons per room and is subject to change without notice.
